What I have Learned

This semester I learned a lot about photography. I have always liked capturing an special moment in time. I like capturing the event from a different view. Photography class has taught me many thing.
Throughout the semester I have learned how to take certain pictures and how to change the settings of the camera based on what kind of pictures I am taking. One of my weaknesses is that I need to learn my camera better. I need to play with my settings more before I start shootings. Another one of my weaknesses is that I need to be more creative. I need to think outside of the box. Turning uninteresting subjects into creative ones is something I need to work on.
I think one of my strengths are being able to capture fast pictures. I liked taking sports pictures because I love being able to capture the play that changed the whole game. Sports photos was probably one of my favorite part of this semester. Another one of my strengths is my patience. I am willing to wait for the picture I want. I think patience will really help me later on.
I want to be on the photography staff next year. I would like to take sports pictures especially. I want to learn more and grow from every experience I do. Maybe later on, I can take photos as my hobby or even as a career. I would like to learn and grow as much as I can now, that way I will be better prepared in the future.

Outside Class Photos

Recreation of Famous Photographer

I chose these pictures because they are the modern day version of the famous photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt's photos. These photos recreate his images. I like these photos because they are very simple; however, are interesting. Each photo has its own special characteristic.

Sports Photos

I chose these photos because each one shows a different aspect of the sport basketball. Whether it is boys or girls, basketball is a very harsh and competitive sport. These photos demonstrate the passion and dedication the subjects have to the sport.

Academic Photos

These photos are a few examples of academic photos. I chose these photos because each one is different, one is a teacher yelling while the other is a student painting. I like these photos because they show that academic photos do not always have to be boring. Being creative is the fun part of shooting academic photos.

Composition Photos

The first picture is a good expression of leading lines. The lines lead into the subject. The first place your eyes focus on is the boy walking.
The second picture is the use of angles. This photo was taken from above. It helps the viewer see a different aspect of the subject.
The third picture is the use of filling the frame. The subject of the photo fills the whole frame.
The last photo is using rule of thirds. The center of interest is towards the right. The boy is the first thing your eye sees. The rest of the picture helps the viewer see what the subject is doing.

Lighting Photos

I chose these pictures because each one has a different style of lighting. Each picture captures things that happen everyday. I like these photos because they give the viewer a new perspective of the photo.
